Rod Castillo is a senior executive and financial leader with more than 20 years of experience in financial analysis, mergers and acquisitions, asset management and government relations in the energy and utilities sectors. He has a degree in Business Administration in Accounting from Appalachian State University, with a Master's Degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina, and has certifications in Advanced Data Analysis (Cornell University) and FP&A Series (IMA). His experience in financial strategy, regulation and international arbitration positions him as a benchmark in the management of investments in the energy and public services sector.
His career began at Enron Corp., where he worked in mergers and acquisitions, international asset valuation and regulatory risk analysis. He is currently Chief Financial Officer at EFPD LLC, where he manages financial operations. Previously, he was a consultant at King & Spalding LLP and Akin Gump LLP, advising on commercial disputes and international arbitrations. As President of Azurix Corp., he protected US investments in Latin America, recovering a US$200 million arbitration award against Argentina and restructuring operations.
He has participated in transactions for more than US$700 million and led international arbitration processes, obtaining a US$165 million award against a debtor government and negotiating an exchange of sovereign bonds for US$200 million. In addition, he has managed regulatory affairs in utility companies, overseeing investments of more than US$340 million.
